How does Bizum work?

Learning how to use Bizum is a piece of cake. All you have to do is enter your N26 app and link it to your account if you already have it with another bank, or sign up if you are not yet a user. Then, go to the Home screen and click on ‘Send money’ or ‘Receive money’, depending on what you want to do; enter your friend’s phone number and the amount. The money you send will arrive instantly, and the requested money will enter your account as soon as the notification is accepted.

FAQs

  • Currently Bizum can be linked to only one bank account, and doesn’t seem to be willing to open up the relationship (at least for now). Therefore, you can only have Bizum linked to a single bank account.

  • In addition to N26, Bizum is also available with the vast majority of banks in Spain. You can find them all here.

  • In order to use Bizum you must have a cell phone number, and a bank account with a Spanish IBAN at one of the banks that currently offer Bizum.

  • Bizum’s service is immediate, which means that the money arrives in fewer than 5 seconds to the destination account.

  • Bizum is compatible with any type of iPhone and with phones that have Android version 5.0 or higher.

  • If you open your N26 app and click on ‘Send money’, you can activate Bizum by following the portability steps without having to go to your other bank.

  • Bizum's limits are as follows:
    • You can make a maximum of 60 money transfers per month
    • The amount of each Bizum transfer cannot exceed €500 or be less than €0.50
    • You can send or receive up to a maximum of €2,000 per day
    • You can send a maximum of €5,000 and receive a maximum of €60,000 per month

  • If the transfer has already been carried out and the money has reached its destination, it is not possible to cancel it.

  • In your profile within the N26 app you can carry out any procedure relating to Bizum, including unsubscribing from the service.

  • You will have to verify your new phone number and register again in Bizum, as well as make sure that your contacts have saved your number.

  • No. N26 only offers accounts for people over the age of 18.

  • Paying with Bizum in online stores is easy. Simply select Bizum as your payment method, enter your data, and validate the purchase via your N26 app. Then, return to the merchant's website to complete your purchase.

  • You can pay with Bizum in more than 14,000 online stores—just visit the Bizum website to find a detailed list of all the merchants that accept it. In general, though, if you see the Bizum button on a store’s payment page, this means that Bizum payments are accepted.

  • Paying online with Bizum offers the maximum security guarantees in accordance with the standards regulated by the European Union and Spanish legislation.

  • When it comes to returned items, the refund process varies from business to business. Therefore, if you have questions about your refund, it’s best to reach out to the merchant you purchased from directly.

  • Paying with Bizum in online shops is completely free for customers, and does not incur any commission costs.
