This can be caused by various factors such as higher demand for goods and services, rising production costs, a devaluation of the currency or a more accommodative monetary policy on the part of the central bank.

When inflation occurs, cash loses purchasing power as the prices of goods and services rise. In other words, the same money becomes worth less and can buy less.
