You can start using your account right away once your identity is verified.

In short, no — N26 bank accounts don’t have service charges, or fees for opening or closing an account. If you decide to open a premium N26 Smart, N26 You, or N26 Metal account, you’ll have to pay a monthly membership fee, but you still won’t pay any of the fees mentioned above. Also, with the N26 Smart account, you won’t have to pay fees for withdrawing cash from ATMs in Europe, and with N26 You and N26 Metal, you can withdraw money from anywhere in the world for free.
Once you switch to a new premium plan, we'll send you a new debit Mastercard via post. However, the benefits and features associated with your new plan will be active immediately. Once you activate your new card, the card associated with your old plan will be permanently blocked. If you downgrade to an N26 Standard account, your account only includes a virtual card — but you can order a physical debit Mastercard for a one-time fee of €10.
Both N26 Metal and You accounts offer travel insurance. This includes coverage for travel delays, baggage delay, baggage loss coverage, emergencies while traveling, trip cancellation and interruption, and personal liability insurance.
