About the opportunity
We are seeking a Credit Risk Associate (Intern) to support N26’s growth and risk leadership aspirations by contributing to cutting-edge credit risk management solutions. Our Credit Risk Management Team plays a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with organisational and regulatory guidelines, enabling data-driven decisions, and driving innovation in credit risk processes. We believe in harnessing data, technology, and collaboration to deliver world-class risk management practices. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in developing and implementing automated credit processing controls, analysing complex datasets, and supporting the evolution of N26’s internal rating systems and credit decision models. You'll work alongside experts, learn from industry leaders, and contribute to building the future of credit risk management in a fast-paced, global environment.In this role, you will:
- Support N26 credit risk management in order to accommodate N26 growth and risk leadership aspirations
- Develop and implement state-of-the art automated credit processing controls and credit data monitoring solutions to ensure compliance with credit risk organizational and regulatory guidelines
- Extract, clean and aggregate data from various data sources, identifying opportunities for further improvement in risk management and communicating your results to the credit risk management team and senior management
- Perform insightful analytics to further enable growth and data-driven decision for credit business
- Collaborate with Data Engineers to build an efficient and resilient DWH architecture
- Support the Product teams developing products’ backend and data structures to allow for improved efficiency related to monitoring, risk management and regulatory compliance on a global scale
- Support the development and backtesting of N26’s internal rating systems and credit decision models
- Identify and evaluate new external data sources, support their integration into N26’ systems
- Perform stress tests to identify vulnerabilities given future economic scenarios
- Build insightful dashboards to facilitate understanding of N26 credit products and quick decision making.
What you need to be successful:
Background:
- Master/Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (natural sciences, mathematics, statistics, econometrics, computer science, business/economics, or similar) with excellent academic results
- First practical experience in financial services and credit risk management is a plus
- Outstanding analytical and quantitative skills
- Intermediate to advance level of SQL; experience with Python and/R as a data analytics and scripting language is a plus
- Understanding of credit processes across the entire value chain (e.g., loan origination, monitoring and early warning systems, loan loss provisioning, collection, NPL management); knowledge of mortgage business and other credit products is a strong plus
- Understanding of regulatory framework regarding credit business (e.g. MaRisk, EBA Guidelines) is a plus
- Good knowledge of rating systems and risk parameters PD, LGD and EAD; experience with IFRS 9 or IRB is a plus
- Excellent communication skills
- Fluent English
