Create your own Rules on N26 Spaces

Need a little help saving money for your next trip? Or want to make sure that your bank balance always has enough in it for the rent at the end of each month? Rules is our latest in-app feature that lets you automatically move money between your main account and your Spaces, and well as between individual sub-accounts themselves.

Setting up a Rule is like creating a standing order between your main N26 account and a Spaces sub-accounts, or between two sub-accounts. Let’s say you have a habit of spending a little more than you mean to each month. With Rules, you can set up a recurring transfer that automatically moves your rent money when you get paid at the end of the month (say, €600) from your main account into one of your Spaces, then create another Rule to automatically move it back into your main account again in time for when the rent’s due. That way you’ll always know that the remaining balance in your main account is safe to spend, and you don’t have to do anything else to move the money in and out.

It’s easy to create a Rule. Simply tap the 4-squares “Spaces” icon in your N26 app, then choose your main account or the space you want to move money from. Enter the amount, hit the slider to create a repeating Rule and enter the date and frequency. After that, you can forget all about it while the app automatically takes care of moving the money for you! Add up to 10 Rules across your Spaces, and delete or create new ones as often as you want.

Keep in mind that your Rules can only be carried out if you have enough money in the account at the time when the money is due to be transferred. That means you might not want to set up repeat transfers from old Spaces that you don’t actively add funds to anymore, for example.
