About the opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Lead of Group Data Governance Strategy to play a pivotal role in shaping data governance and protection policy, standards and frameworks within a collaborative culture, and in an increasingly AI-driven regulatory landscape.
In this role, you’ll ensure that our data governance and stewardship practices are compliant and aligned with evolving regulations. You’ll be the bridge between data governance, data protection, information security, and technology, helping the organisation meet regulatory obligations while embracing innovation. In this role, you will:
- Establish and guide data governance and stewardship policy and practices in N26, providing support to accelerate data-driven digital transformation including staying up to date with the latest trends, developments, and best practices in data governance and related fields.
- Manage a team of two.
- Be responsible for defining, maintaining and implementing data governance policies, models, frameworks and standards. You will also drive the implementation of these policies and frameworks to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection to meet overall business needs.
- Provide LOD2 oversight to ensure adherence to the various Data Governance policies, frameworks and standards.
- Monitor and report on data governance program effectiveness, including adherence to data policies and procedures, data quality metrics, and oversight of data privacy controls.
- Collaborate with existing functions in developing and implementing Data Protection and Data quality standards across the enterprise.
- Lead awareness and alignment, and coordinate with senior and top management such as IT, Product, Business and Operations senior leadership regarding Data Governance.
- Ensure data governance training programs for stakeholders across the organization to build skills and knowledge, and ensure compliance with data governance policies, frameworks, and standards.
What you need to be successful:
Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field would be preferable but not mandatory.
- Professional certifications such as CDMP or equivalent are highly desirable, as well as knowledge and experience with DAMA.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in information governance and stewardship preferably within the Banking sector.
- Working knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements such as GDPR, DORA, BCBS239, MaRisk (specifically AT 4.3.4 for data quality, consistency, and risk data aggregation).
- A working understanding of IT infrastructure, information security, and a data mesh / Lakehouse decentralised architecture is an advantage.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with a strong focus on collaboration, alignment and stakeholder management.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously (including discovery).
- Ability to visualise the ‘to be’ state for data governance and stewardship within N26 with and ability to create a strategic roadmap towards achieving this.
- People change management experience is an advantage.
- Proficient in using JIRA, Confluence and Figjam is a plus.
- Moderate proficiency in using google sheets formulas.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain new technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong report-writing and presentation skills.
- Fluency in English and German is required.
- Ability to be resourceful in bridging knowledge and skills gaps
- Adaptable and open to learning, with a keen interest in staying up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in Information governance and management.
- Passion for data governance and stewardship and internal controls, as well as for user experience.
- Detail-oriented and meticulous in ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all tasks.
