AFC Senior Associate - "SAR Delegate"

About the opportunity
We are currently looking for a SAR Delegate (AFC Senior Associate) to join the Italian MLRO Team. In this role, you will oversee autonomously coordinating and making decisions on operational financial crime related topics of the Italian Branch.
The AFC Senior Associate will be assisting the MLRO Italy in all her/his tasks and will be based in the Branch (remote working available).
In particular, the AFC Senior Associate will support in all AFC control activities, will be able to act as “SAR Delegate”, and support in the coordination between branch Compliance/AFC function and (i) the Global AFC function and (ii) the other functions working for the Italian market at the Global level, including AFC Ops, KYC Ops, Complaints Management and Prevention, Regulatory Reporting.
In your next challenge, you will:
Support the Italian MLRO team in the following activities:
- Review, validation and submission of the SARs (segnalazioni di operazioni sospette).
- Relationship with the FIU and other investigative bodies about AFC topics.
- Advisory, guidance and training to AFC Ops & KYC Ops Italy teams.
- Coordination with other operational functions working for the Italian market.
- Review of controls methodology and controls results, review of action plans; conduct local specific controls.
- Support the Italian MLRO in all his/her tasks, including but not limited to communications with regulatory authorities and FIU as well as the preparation of the annual self-assessment.
- Participation in Global and local specific projects for the Italian branch.
- Participation in drafting and reviewing Policies & Procedures concerning AML / TF.
- Support the preparation and delivery of the training plan and continuously check the adequacy of the material used.
What you’ll need to be successful
Background:
- A university degree in economics, law, business, or other relevant areas.
- Professional experience gained in an anti-financial crime or compliance or risk management role, ideally with at least 5+ years.
- Proven experience in complex investigations and SARs filing (segnalazione di operazioni sospette) with the Italian FIU.
- A professional Financial Crime qualification from an internationally recognized body (e.g. ICA, ACAMS) would be beneficial.
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of European and Italian regulations on Financial Crime (AML/CTF, fraud, tax evasion).
- You speak both Italian and English fluently.
- Proven experience working with the Authorities.
- Knowledge of the Italian banking regulatory environment and relevant processes regarding topics such as KYC, financial crime risk assessment, transaction monitoring, fraud / terrorist financing, sanctions / embargoes, and screening.
- Advanced use of MS Office (G suits) skills for Excel and Word.
- You have a hands-on mentality and take on ownership.
- Hardworking, team player and attentive to detail.
- Strong analytical, advisory, communication, and presentation skills are amongst your strenghts.
