About the opportunity
We are seeking aChief of Staff
to support Maximilian Tayenthal, Founder, Co-CEO & COO of N26 (“co-CEO”). The Chief of Staff will serve as a trusted advisor to the co-CEO, supporting strategic initiatives, driving growth, and ensuring operational efficiency. This role involves close collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team and oversight of critical cross-functional projects. From Day 1, you will enhance our productivity by streamlining initiatives, optimizing program management, and aligning departmental objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business management, especially in advising senior executives and coordinating interdepartmental collaboration. This position can be based in Berlin or Vienna.In this role, you will:
- Support the co-CEO in shaping and executing N26’s strategy by leading key cross-functional projects
- Ensure initiatives align with strategic goals by setting clear objectives, KPIs, and efficient processes
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to provide strategic insights to the co-CEO and Executive Leadership Team
- Act as a central point of information, enabling informed decision-making across the organization
- Foster communication and collaboration between the co-CEO, the Executive Leadership Team, Supervisory Board, and external stakeholders
- Prepare internal and external communications that reflect the co-CEO's vision and priorities
- Contribute to financial reporting and budgeting processes
- Coordinate year-end reviews and feedback for the co-CEO’s direct reports
- Work with HR and business teams to identify, hire, and develop future leaders
- Partner with the co-CEO’s EA to ensure smooth office operations, manage schedules, and support meeting preparation and follow-ups
What you need to be successful:
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
- 7+ years of experience in a fast-paced growth startup/fintech, VC/PE firm, investment bank, or management consultancy preferred
- Fluent English, fluency in German highly preferred
- Experience working with senior executives (e.g., Founders, CEOs, Managing Directors, or Senior Partners)
- Extensive project management experience with the ability to work independently, set priorities, manage multiple tasks, and deliver results on time
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with high attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across all levels of the organization
- Proven track record as a successful team leader
- Unquestionable personal integrity, ethics, and trust
