Lead Backend Engineer - Memberships

About the opportunity

You will work in the Grow & Engage domain. This is the heart of the customer experience ranging from the acquisition and signup to our premium membership tiers and the daily engagement of our users. You will work in teams delivering the newest and most innovative features serving our customers in the best way possible. As a Lead Backend Engineer at N26, you will be encouraged to embrace the latest technologies and frameworks to solve customer-centric, complex, and engaging problems on a daily basis.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage product technical roadmaps and dependencies to minimize technical debt
  • You will champion knowledge sharing, cultivate learning and avoid knowledge silos in the team
  • Drive the team's build-it-ship-it attitude's by demonstrating healthy engineering practices, writing clean, well-tested, and well-refactored code with the team, and shipping it into production as often as possible
  • Demonstrate behaviors that encourage the DevSecOps culture and the pragmatic N26 engineering attitude
  • Lead initiatives to improve our company-wide engineering culture and discover ways to multiply the effectiveness of the team and the organization
  • Be involved in recruitment and employer brand projects to help make our engineering team stronger

What you need to be successful:

Background

:
  • 5+ years of experience in building digital products in Java or/and Kotlin
  • Experience architecting and developing complex systems for CD in a cloud-based environment
  • Experience leading developers, tech mentoring and working with cross-functional teams
  • You are familiar with and enjoy working in Agile technical setup (e.g. Scrum, CI/CD, DevOps, Cloud)
  • You have full professional proficiency in English and good communication skills
  • Experience with AWS and/or Kubernetes is a plus

Skills:

  • Experience architecting and developing complex systems for CD in a cloud-based environment
  • Experience with modern engineering practices such as clean code, TDD, refactoring
  • Previous experience leading an engineering team as a servant-leader 
  • Language Skills: full professional proficiency in English
