Model Risk Associate

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and curious Model Risk Associate to join our Model Risk Validation team. You’ll play a key role in assessing the soundness and compliance of models, engaging with stakeholders across the business, and contributing to a strong model governance framework; all while developing hands-on expertise in a dynamic, regulated environment.In this role you will:
- Conduct and manage validations for a diverse range of models, including but not limited to credit risk, market risk, operational risk, and anti-financial crime models. This involves ensuring strict adherence to both internal policies and applicable regulatory mandates.
- Develop comprehensive and well-structured validation reports that clearly articulate the scope, methodology, findings, conclusions, and actionable recommendations for each validation.
- Effectively communicate validation outcomes and recommendations to relevant stakeholders, including model owners, developers, and senior management, through clear and concise presentations and discussions.
- Systematically track identified validation findings and recommendations, diligently following up on remediation efforts to ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain an up-to-date and in-depth understanding of evolving regulatory requirements and industry best practices pertaining to model risk management and model validation, particularly within the German regulatory landscape.
- Collaborate proactively with model development teams, business units, and other risk management functions throughout the entire model lifecycle to foster a robust model risk management framework.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of model validation methodologies, standards, and documentation, ensuring they remain effective and aligned with best practices.
What you need to be successful:
Background
- Quantitative academic background: Master’s in statistics, mathematics, business/economics, or a similar field with a quantitative focus.
- First practical experience in model validation or development is a plus.
Skills
- Methodological proficiency: Prior knowledge of statistical and Machine Learning methods, hypothesis testing, and data quality analysis techniques.
- Technical experience: Hands-on experience with Python and SQL
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive and solution-driven approach to challenges.
- Hands-on approach and eagerness to tackle new topics while demonstrating a quick grasp in conceptual project work and strategic thinking.
- Fluent in English, German is a plus.
