About the opportunity

Platform Engineering aims to deliver reliable, high-performing, self-service platforms that enable product teams to build a world-class banking experience. The Platform Enablement group supports N26 engineers with tools that improve their efficiency while upholding security and compliance. In this position you will join the Platform Enablement group, having a strong focus on Tech Operational Resilience (TOR). Examples of initiatives in which you would participate include a web application for change management and custom CI checks that enforce organizational rules. N26 fosters collaboration, knowledge sharing, and autonomy within its cross-functional teams. Backend Engineers are encouraged to adopt the latest technologies and tackle complex, engaging problems daily. As a pioneering cloud-native bank, N26 prioritizes security, resilience, and productivity. This requires a modern technology stack and the development of teams that align with our principles and support our product teams, the company, and our customers. 

In this role, you will:

• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain software in a thriving environment.
• Collaborate closely with your team on architecting new features and seeing them through to completion.
• Stay up to date with the latest trends in technology.
• Work within your cross-functional team to uphold the highest technical standards right across the product.

What you need to be successful:

• A strong knowledge of modern JavaScript (ES2015+) and modern web development tools.
• Recent experience with React or another modern, component based web framework (Ember, Vue, Svelte, Angular, etc.) for the development of web applications and their integration with backend APIs.
• Good understanding of Node.js and experience in using it for the development of web services and libraries (npm packages) or command line applications.
• Experience with designing web service APIs on the backend with either REST, GraphQL or both.
• Experience with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) and practical knowledge about how to design data models.
• A firm grasp of object-oriented programming and common design patterns.
• Solid understanding of web security, including possible threats and how to address them.
• A “test first” attitude, a passion for reading and writing good documentation and maybe a soft spot for TypeScript.
