Credit Risk Senior Manager - Treasury

N26 is looking for a Senior Manager to lead the Credit Risk - Treasury Team in Berlin. The successful candidate will lead a team of risk experts responsible for the complete credit risk management of the bank's treasury and investment activities.
In this role, you will:

Lead, Mentor, and Develop:
Guide and empower a team of expert credit risk managers and analysts, fostering a culture of excellence and critical thinking while ensuring the highest quality standards are met in all credit reviews and decisions. You will be directly responsible for their professional growth and the team's overall success. -
Develop and Own Credit Methodologies and Processes:
Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of credit analysis frameworks and internal rating models for our key asset classes. You will own the design and execution of end-to-end credit processes and the associated process controls. -
Oversee the End-to-End Credit Lifecycle:
Take responsibility for the team's execution and oversight of the credit process in line with MaRisk BTO1. This includes ensuring robust procedures for credit granting, ongoing monitoring and early warning systems, intensified and problem loan management, risk classification procedures, and loan loss provisioning. -
Enhance Risk Reporting and Steering:
Develop and enhance credit risk reporting, generating key insights to support the steering of the treasury portfolio in line with the bank's investment and risk strategies. -
Manage Key Stakeholder and Regulatory Relationships:
Act as a central, collaborative partner to key internal stakeholders, including Senior Management, Treasury Front Office, Treasury Operations, Finance (Accounting and Regulatory Reporting), and Risk Controlling. You will also serve as the primary contact for banking supervision authorities, leveraging your successful track record in liaising with bodies like BaFin and the Deutsche Bundesbank, as well as various internal and external auditors. -
Ensure Regulatory Adherence:
Guarantee the bank’s adherence to all relevant regulations. You will be the subject matter expert on their practical implementation within our processes and systems, ensuring compliance across the board.
What you need to be successful:
Background:

Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a comparable quantitative field. A CFA, FRM, or similar advanced qualification is a strong asset. -
Experience:
A minimum of 8+ years of professional experience in credit risk management, with a significant portion focused on treasury, capital markets, or corporate credit analysis within a regulated German or European financial institution. -
Leadership:
Proven and demonstrable experience in a team leadership or management capacity, with a track record of developing and mentoring talent.

Expert Regulatory Knowledge:
You must possess expert-level, hands-on knowledge of the German and European regulatory framework for credit risk. This explicitly includes KWG, MaRisk (esp. BTO1), CRR, the EBA Guidelines on Loan Origination and Monitoring (EBA GL LOM), and the credit risk-related aspects of IFRS 9. -
Extensive Credit Expertise:
Deep, in-depth experience in credit risk assessment and methodologies for a range of counterparties, particularly sovereigns and financial institutions. You are an expert in analyzing financial statements, assessing debt-servicing capacity, applying credit rating models, and have an excellent knowledge of financial instruments (e.g., loans, securities) and their underlying risk profiles. -
Authority Liaison:
A proven track record of successful, direct interaction and communication with regulatory authorities, particularly BaFin and the Deutsche Bundesbank. -
Exceptional Communication:
Fluency in both German and English is mandatory for this role. You must possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills to negotiate, present, and document complex topics clearly and concisely in both languages. -
Stakeholder Partnership:
Demonstrated ability to build trusted, collaborative partnerships with a wide array of senior internal stakeholders and auditors. -
Nice to have:
Knowledge of structured products (e.g., CLOs, Repo, ABCP) would be a significant advantage. -
Technical Acumen:
Familiarity with SQL is expected; knowledge of Python and proficiency in Bloomberg are beneficial.
