Having an excellent team is crucial to build the bank the world loves to use. To become one of the best global employers, we invest heavily in our working environment to attract and retain the best talent. Today, we would like to share our recent investment into our team with you: In autumn 2019, we will open a tech hub in Vienna, Austria. The new location will strengthen our global product and technology team of currently 280 employees. Long term, we will hire an additional 300 software engineers, product managers and IT specialists at our Vienna office. The aim of the new tech hub is to support our growth as a global company with over 2.5M customers. Our team in Vienna will focus on further developing state-of-the-art data-driven security systems to make banking with N26 even more secure. Other features that will be developed in Vienna include new peer-to-peer payment options to make it easier to share transactions or bills with friends, and automated statistics to give our customers an even better overview of their spending. We chose Vienna because of its high quality of life, which is crucial for attracting qualified talent from all over the world. In addition, the proximity to the pool of technical talent in Central and Eastern Europe and the good connections to Berlin were important factors when looking for our new tech location. With our headquarters in Berlin counting over 800 employees and our tech hub in Barcelona, the new location in Vienna will be N26’ third product and technology office in Europe. Our company currently consists of more than 1,000 employees and we are planning to grow to 1,500 employees by the end of 2019. The new tech hub in Vienna will help us get there. We’re also growing our office space across all our different locations; our headquarters in Berlin, our hub in Barcelona, as well as our offices in New York and our recently opened workspace in Sao Paolo, Brazil. We’re especially proud to return to Vienna, since it’s the city where our two founders Valentin Stalf and Maximilian Tayenthal developed the initial idea of a mobile bank, which later became N26. Since then Austria has always been N26’s second home market. In no other country do we have more customers per capita than here. While choosing Vienna is an acknowledgement of our Austrian origins, it also proves that a world leading tech company can grow globally from Europe.
