5 million customers in 5 years—N26 celebrates another record-breaking milestone
We’ve made it to 5 million customers! Here’s what this important milestone means for The Mobile Bank.

As we enter a new decade, we’re delighted to share some more fantastic news. N26 has reached another impressive milestone in its journey, and we now have over 5 million customers banking with us around the globe!
And it could not be more fitting that this announcement comes five years after the official launch of our first mobile-only bank account back in January 26, 2015. We’ve witnessed a huge amount of change over this time and today, we’re incredibly proud to be considered one of the key players in digital banking—bigger and better than ever before.
Looking back, last year turned out to be our most tremendous year of growth to date. In 2019 alone, we saw our customer base double, attracting more users in the last twelve months than in all previous years combined. On top of this, we celebrated a long list of notable achievements—we became one of the highest valued FinTechs worldwide, the first European challenger bank to enter the US market, and opened our state-of-the-art Vienna TechHub to focus on further innovation.
In terms of product, we celebrated a number of wins. Alongside re-branding our premium N26 Black bank account into N26 You in the summer, we introduced Shared Spaces to our customers to enable you to save and manage your money better with friends and family. Behind-the-scenes, we also committed over 134,000 hours to deliver you the most reliable Customer Support possible, and expanded our workforce to 1,500 across 80 nationalities to make it all happen. It’s incredible to think that just two years ago, we were only 300 people-strong.
