About the opportunity
We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to own and evolve critical governance platforms that help N26 meet regulatory expectations and strengthen operational resilience at scale.
Our System Solutions team enables the organization by operating and developing enterprise governance platforms such as ServiceNow and related risk tooling. We sit at the intersection of engineering, security, risk, and operations, and believe in building well-architected, compliant, and scalable systems that automate regulatory controls and support the bank’s long-term resilience.
This role is suited for engineers who combine deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and people leadership. You will shape architecture, influence engineering standards beyond your immediate team, and develop people while working on systems with meaningful regulatory and operational impact.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the technical lifecycle of ServiceNow and related governance platforms (IRM, Risk, Change, Incident, CMDB, Asset).
- Ensure configurations are secure, scalable, auditable, and aligned with regulatory standards.
- Design and implement integrations across ServiceNow, IAM systems, asset sources, and security tooling.
- Improve data consistency across Asset, Process, and Risk domains.
- Define and drive technical standards for governance platforms.
- Establish clear technical interfaces and measurable health metrics.
- Advocate measurable engineering standards: security, stability, auditability, and operational resilience.
- Represent your area within the broader engineering community.
- Mentor engineers and grow technical capability across the team.
What you need to be successful:
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, enterprise SaaS platforms, or large-scale integrations.
- Strong hands-on experience with ServiceNow (IRM, Risk, CMDB, Change, Incident, or similar governance modules).
- Experience implementing governance processes such as Third-Party Risk, BIA, PRA, and Risk Registers.
- Experience working with REST/SOAP APIs and structured data (JSON, XML).
- Experience with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Skills
- Ability to write automation or integration code (Python, bash, or similar).
- Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring engineers and influencing architectural decisions.
- Comfortable operating in regulated, fast-moving environments.
