About the opportunity
As an Engineering Manager for Analytics Engineering & Data Governance you shape the foundations for data-driven decision making at N26. You are here to establish a data-mindset and thereby to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement. You will closely collaborate with the rest of the data community and business stakeholders to ensure our teams and processes are making the most out of our data capabilities - while helping to enhance it.
You will manage members of the analytics engineering and data governance team, supporting product, operations, business and banking teams.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and support one or more teams of analytics engineers in designing and implementing clean data models, ensuring that business stakeholders can independently extract insights and make data-driven decisions.
- Oversee the development, testing, and implementation of data projects, enforcing software engineering best practices such as version control, continuous integration, testing, documentation, and clean coding.
- Cultivate a culture of data literacy within the company, leading initiatives to share knowledge and enforce best practices in data management and its use.
- Establish pragmatic data governance best practices, processes and tooling for the rest of the organisation.
- Enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of analysts and business users by optimising their workflows and tools for data handling, improving productivity and data accessibility.
- Act as a champion for data modelling within the organisation, promoting data-driven discussions and decision-making processes across different business units.
- Identify opportunities to refine and streamline the processes involved in delivering the company’s data assets, ensuring alignment with business goals (OKRs and big bets).
- Manage the development and maintenance of data models for Analytics, making it suitable for the use in data visualisation tools and ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the business.
What you need to be successful:
- 5+ years of experience in roles within Data Analysis, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or Analytics.
- 2+ years of experience in managing teams and/or projects.
- Proficient in SQL for data manipulation, and a strong working knowledge of Python.
- Solid experience in overseeing ETL/ELT processes and the architecture of data warehousing solutions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively leading and collaborating with a diverse team of technical professionals.
- Good problem-solving abilities and business sense, with the capacity to relate technical efforts to business outcomes.
- Experience in fostering a collaborative and innovative environment, encouraging team growth, and facilitating continuous learning and improvement
