Fraud Prevention Associate

About the opportunity:
We are seeking a Fraud Prevention Associate to join our team in Berlin. Your primary focus will be providing foundational support for the Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) framework, with an emphasis on internal and external fraud management. In this role, you will assist in gathering data for risk assessments, prepare initial drafts of fraud-related reports, coordinate logistics for risk committees, and help execute and document first-line of defense (1LoD) controls.In this role, you will:
- Supporting the team in maintaining the Financial Crime Prevention Risk Life Cycle by documenting Governance & Policies, Risk Assessments, and Control Frameworks.
- Preparing data and initial drafts for reporting duties, including tracking Fraud volumes, related KRIs including the risk appetite.
- Assisting with the logistical organization and minute-taking for Fraud Risk committees for internal (and external) stakeholders.
- Helping to organize and distribute training materials and awareness initiatives.
- Performing routine data collection to help plan and conduct individual controls on 1LoD activities.
- Providing administrative and analytical support in cross-functional projects.
What you need to be successful:
- A degree in Law, International Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 1 to 2 years of professional experience in the financial sector, within Anti-Financial Crime or Fraud Prevention.
- Holding a professional Financial Crime qualification from an internationally recognized body (e.g., ICA, ACAMS) is a plus.
- Fluency in English and German are required (verbal and written), with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Solid analytical skills to help identify errors, trends, or anomalies in data.
- A high level of attention to detail and the ability to spot inconsistencies in data or procedures.
- The ability to quickly grasp new systems, processes, and regulatory requirements.
- A methodical and organized approach to work, enabling you to support complex projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, paired with strong interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, pragmatic mindset as a team player who can also work independently on assigned tasks.
- A high level of discretion and confidentiality.
