About the opportunity
Are you passionate about navigating financial services regulation and driving excellence in Compliance? We are seeking a talented individual to join the team as Manager - Banking Compliance. This is your chance to be at the forefront of developing the Compliance Management System for N26, leading to compliance innovation while ensuring operational activities not only meet but exceed regulatory standards.
Our Group Compliance - Banking Compliance team manages the Compliance Risk Management Lifecycle in accordance with MaRisk AT 4.4.2 and thus serves as the backbone of Regulatory Compliance. We proactively identify emerging risks through horizon scanning, conduct in-depth analyses and assessments, execute controls with purpose and provide stakeholder adapted information. From prudential banking requirements underpinning our core business and treasury activities to safeguarding customer rights, we tackle it with strategic foresight and integrity. As a team, we contribute to group-wide initiatives and engage with stakeholders at every level of the organisation. Join us as we further grow our Compliance Function. In this role, you will:
- Contribute to the design, implementation, and execution of a robust second-line Regulatory Compliance framework in accordance with the requirements of MaRisk AT 4.4.2., including horizon scanning, risk assessments, control activities and reporting.
- Conduct compliance assessments on a broad range of regulatory topics and for a variety of material business initiatives across N26.
- Play a key role in delivering on regulatory initiatives of the compliance roadmap including the enhancement of the customer protection framework as well as the compliance culture and awareness program.
- Support the compliance management of the branches of the bank, pursuing group-wide standards for an effective alignment and leveraging synergies in joint initiatives.
- Uphold highest standards of compliance and conduct.
- Become a trusted advisor for First Line business units and other key stakeholders.
What you need to be successful:
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- A reputable compliance certification (e.g. Certified Compliance Professional, ICA Diploma in Compliance, or equivalent) is highly valued.
- 5+ years of experience in Compliance, Audit or Risk Management, ideally in Banking or Payments within an international environment.
- Very good knowledge of applicable European and German laws and regulations (e.g. CRR / CRD, KWG, MaRisk, PSD2).
- Deep understanding of the Three Lines of Defense model and hands-on experience in Compliance Risk Management.
- Strong analytical and structured thinking — work through ambiguity, prioritise competing demands, and draw well-reasoned conclusions from complex regulatory material.
- Great communicator with the ability to dissect complex regulatory requirements and tailor them into clear, impactful insights for stakeholders at all levels.
- Collaborative mindset, with the confidence to challenge and the judgement to advise.
- Fluent in English (German is a plus).
