About the role
As the Director of Marketing Data, you will be the primary architect of the company’s data-driven growth engine. You are not just a provider of reports; you are a strategic leader responsible for the mathematical rigor behind our market expansion and customer unit economics. You will bridge the gap between complex data engineering and executive-level decision-making, ensuring that every Euro spent on marketing is backed by a robust, scalable, and validated data framework.
Your mission is to transition the organization from "data-informed" to "data-led," building a world-class team of analysts, engineers, and scientists who treat data as a high-quality product.
Based in Berlin, Barcelona or Madrd📍, reporting to our Chief Growth Officer
Your impact
- Visionary Domain Leadership: Architect and scale a high-performing multidisciplinary data organization. You will define the headcount strategy, career frameworks, and operational rhythms that allow Data Scientists and Engineers to deliver high-leverage outcomes.
- Marketing Investment Strategy: Act as the strategic counterweight to the Marketing leadership, using data to influence budget allocation. You will own the "Single Source of Truth" for marketing efficiency, defining how we measure success across the entire funnel.
- Data Product Ecosystem: Lead the development of proprietary data products—such as real-time LTV forecasting, Incrementality testing frameworks, and Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM)—to move the company beyond simple attribution toward true causal inference.
- Governance as an Enabler
:
Establish a sophisticated data governance and privacy framework that doesn't just "comply" with GDPR/regulations but uses privacy-first data collection as a competitive advantage in a post-cookie world. - Cross-Functional Influence: Serve as a key stakeholder in the global data council, ensuring that marketing data architecture integrates seamlessly with the broader company data warehouse and financial reporting systems.
- Innovation & Experimentation Culture: Design the company’s experimentation roadmap. You will champion a rigorous scientific method for growth, moving the team from "launching campaigns" to "testing hypotheses" at scale.
What you bring
- Executive Presence: +10 years of experience in data leadership, with a proven track record of influencing C-suite stakeholders in a high-growth, consumer-tech (B2C) environment.
- Strategic Breadth: Deep expertise in the Martech & Adtech landscape (CDPs, MMPs, Server-side tracking) and how these technologies interface with modern data stacks (Snowflake, BigQuery, dbt).
- Product Thinking: Experience treating data as a product—building scalable, automated internal tools rather than just fulfilling ad-hoc requests.
- Commercial Acumen: A deep understanding of unit economics, CAC/LTV dynamics, and the ability to translate technical data nuances into business risks or opportunities.
- Technical Rooting: While this is a strategic role, you must possess the technical depth to conduct code reviews or architectural audits. Proficiency in SQL is foundational; an understanding of Python/R for predictive modeling is expected.
- Change Management: Proven ability to lead teams through pivots, scaling challenges, and organizational transformations.
What you can expect
- Strategic Autonomy: The mandate to redefine how a leading European disruptor views and uses marketing data.
- High-Stakes Impact: Your work will directly dictate the efficiency of multi-million euro marketing budgets.
- Executive Growth: Access to leadership development, a high-caliber peer group, and a seat at the table for defining the next phase of N26’s growth.
- Total Rewards: Competitive compensation package, including equity/ESOP, a generous personal development budget, and comprehensive relocation and wellness benefits.
- A flexible environment: A place where trust and autonomy are centered.
