Working in the People Operations team at N26, you’ll help us deliver an outstanding employee experience by giving our colleagues the resources and support they need in the most important moments of their N26 journey. 

In this role you will

  • Be the first point of contact for various stakeholders regarding technical questions, such as the impact of annual legal changes on payroll, advising on best practices in implementing new concepts like additional benefits, or handling inquiries about various payroll related calculations.
  • You are a mentor for the German team on payroll-related questions such as absences (maternity and parental leave, sickness), questions about taxes and social security or the assessment of benefits in kind that must be integrated into payroll.
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders, such as the accounting team or statutory authorities and auditors.
  • Be a driver of payroll projects such as harmonising pre- and post-payroll processes of different countries, setting up a knowledge tool for different countries to increase expertise in the team and assessing possible future plans for integration of a global payroll provider.
  • Be the primary support for planned and ongoing audits. Support the identification of risk areas and be the driving force in raising problems with management and proposing solutions.
  • Further administrative tasks are:
    • Support of the monthly German and other European payroll activities, carried out by external providers.
    • Preparation of the  monthly employee-related cost analyses and reviews for our finance team
    • Handling of payroll related queries received via our ticketing system (Jira)
    • Within Workday, our HRIS, you will look after payroll processes and requests
    • Support projects within the payroll team: introducing new tools, automation of processes etc.
 

What you need to be successful

Skills 

  • Ideally 6+ years Payroll/Human Resources experience
  • You have strong knowledge of German payroll and are very familiar with the German labour law and payroll regulations 
  • You have further knowledge of payroll related processes of other European countries, preferably Spain and Austria.
  • Experience with Workday or other HRIS
  • Your decisions are always based on data, which you can analyse independently  
  • Strong customer service mindset and ideally experience working with or in support of diverse communities
  • Outstanding communication and written skills in English and German 
  • You’re quick to pick things up, love to learn and always looking for ways to improve
  • You are used to working within a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • You like working in a team to achieve a shared goal and to provide best services but are also used taking on ownership independently 
  • Experience implementing a global payroll provider would be an advantage
