Associate - Financial Control and Reconciliation

About the opportunity

The Associate Financial Control and Reconciliation acts as a subject matter expert in the Financial Control and Reconciliation Team within the Finance function.  The associate is actively involved in and contributing to the functioning of key processes within the team’s scope and proactively takes responsibility at the interface to other teams within and outside the function.  In addition to contribution to an effective and efficient Finance Compliance set-up, one of the core deliverables for the role will be the design and implementation of a Finance-Risk Data Strategy to promote the principles of effective finance and risk data aggregation.   

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and implement a Finance-Risk Data Strategy, ensuring proper visibility on data flows and steering-relevant KPIs 
  • Map and assess the complete record-to-report data flow documenting the interactions between key microservices and our reporting software
  • Review, assess and enhance our existing reporting infrastructure in line with the principles of BCBS 239 
  • Develop appropriate consistency checks for data across the Financial Domain and in close partnership with the Group Risk Function 
  • Execute control steps to ensure effective Finance Compliance in line with the established Risk-Control-Matrix and company-wide Risk management methodology
  • Act as an intermediary between the Finance function and the 2nd line, in particular the Risk Controlling and Non-Financial Risk Management teams 
  • Support in establishing effective reconciliation mechanisms and serve as an advisor to the process owners in regards to process improvement and automation
  • Assist in the risk-control gap analysis and design of effective controls for specific financial statements assertions to ensure data accuracy and completeness in our internal and external reporting
  • Educate risk owners and functional leads on methodology, implementation, review and documentation of internal controls
  • Function as an interface between delivering source systems and receiving ledger systems 
  • Assist in investigating data quality issues, developing remediation plans and recommendations for remediation at source
  • Support with internal/external audits and present your ideas and solutions to senior management
 

What you need to be successful:

Background:
  • University degree in Business, Economics, Computer Science or other technical background with relevant professional experience
  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience in Finance, Risk or Data Management
  Skills:
  • Good knowledge of the regulatory requirements for risk management as well as strong knowledge of the standard risk controlling methods and procedures, experience in the implementation of BCBS 239 / RDARR capabilities is a plus
  • Strong understanding of data structures and databases as well as experience in data preparation and analysis 
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • In-depth knowledge of financial reporting, accounting, data warehousing 
  • Expertise as a user of standard statistical and data analysis software such as Python, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, R etc
  • Analytical and conceptual skills, paired with eloquent communication in speech and writing as well as a high degree of organisational talent and initiative
  • Fluent in English, German is a plus
