N26 enhances business banking offering with new freelancer account, designed for the needs of those with a secondary income

Milan, 31 August 2026 – N26 today announced the launch of its new Freelancer account in Italy, a new multi-account solution designed to simplify the financial lives of individual customers who are independent workers or have secondary sources of income. With the new N26 Freelancer account, eligible customers can manage their personal spending and savings, as well as their business finances side by side, all within the N26 app. The new Freelancer account is tailored to support the needs of Italy’s growing freelancer community, which today includes more than 5 million independent workers, representing over one in five workers in Italy and one of the highest numbers of self-employed professionals in Europe. The new N26 Freelancer account is designed to support the day-to-day operations of self-employed owners with simple and efficient tools for receiving, sending, and managing payments. The accounts offer up to 0.5% cashback on all purchases, depending on the N26 membership, further helping customers to save money as they get their work done. The N26 Freelancer account also simplifies critical administrative tasks and accounting management including real-time transaction notifications, financial insights and automated digital banking tools, ensuring that independent workers can focus on running their businesses, while keeping this separate from their personal finance, all in the N26 app. Setting up a Freelancer multi-account is quick and easy. Customers can open their N26 app, head to the ‘Finances’ tab, and select ‘Freelancer Account.’ From there, they can follow the simple steps in the app to set up their account in just a few minutes.

Customers will have a dedicated Italian IBAN for their Freelancer account, as well as the option to order additional business Mastercard debit cards. N26 Freelancer accounts are available in Italy to customers who have a personal N26 bank account with an Italian IBAN, and will be bundled into the customer’s existing membership tier without any additional charges.
