We look back on reaching 2 million customers, being ranked the #1 startup to work for in Germany and launching N26 in seven new markets.In 2018, we were on a mission to deliver on our promise to build a bank the world loves to use. This meant reaching new customers in new markets, developing the best products in the market and making N26 a great place to bank and work.In November, we launched N26 in the UK, our first non-Euro account and a major step forward in our global expansion. We followed this up by rolling out N26 in Denmark, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Liechtenstein and Iceland. And with new markets came new customers.In June we had 1 million customers, by December we counted more than 2 million customers across 24 countries, with monthly transaction volume exceeding €1.5 billion. We continue to be one of the fastest growing mobile banks in Europe and we’re not stopping there, with our sights set on the US in 2019.Our growth wouldn’t be possible without the impressive developments from our product team. One of our most exciting releases of 2018 was Spaces in August. Spaces is a fast and easy way to set aside money based on our customers’ personal preferences and needs. By enabling users to instantly move funds to their personalized Spaces and back to the main account, we give customers total flexibility and control over how they organize their money and keep track of financial goals. This is a major building block in our efforts to deliver the most flexible banking experience to our customers and we have innovative new products planned for 2019.To become the bank the world loves to use, we need to be a global employer, attracting the best talent from all over the world. Next to offices in Berlin and New York, in October we officially opened our new office in Barcelona, to create a hub for our product and tech specialists to keep delivering better products. Our Barcelona team has already grown to 20 employees. Want to see more? Here’s a video from the opening.In September we were ranked #1 in the LinkedIn Top Startups Deutschland 2018 list, which honors the 25 most desirable startups to work for in Germany. The rankings are based on a range of scoring factors, including LinkedIn user interest in the company, interest in jobs and employee engagement and retention. Of course, this successful year would not have been possible without our customers. Your support, trust and feedback has made 2018 one of our best years yet. We can’t wait for a more successful 2019 with you.
