The time has come. You asked, we listened—and we’re absolutely delighted to announce that it’s finally here. Yes, that’s right—N26 is finally turning down the light and going dark.As one of your most requested features for quite some time, our engineers have been hard at work to bring Dark Mode to light so you can get even more from your banking experience. And it’s now ready for you in the N26 app, integrated seamlessly with your iOS and Android device’s light/dark settings. Our mission has always been to streamline the way you manage your money, anytime and anywhere. And now, you can enjoy an even better way to do it when the sun sets.Whatever you’re doing—whether it’s checking your bank account balance late at night, moving some funds over to a space before bedtime, or sending a MoneyBeam to a friend you’ve been meaning to pay back—Dark Mode offers many practical benefits for the darker hours. After all, looking at lighter smartphone backgrounds after the sun sets is a major cause of digital eye strain (DES), and also suppresses the secretion of melatonin, which is a crucial hormone for peaceful sleep. For the night owls among us, it’s the perfect solution to after-hours money management, without the compromise on wellbeing. And of course, there’s no denying that it looks effortlessly cool, too! Providing the same beautifully simple user experience that comes with your N26 app, the darker background gives your phone a slick look and a streamlined feel that fits in with your aesthetic.Alongside being able to change your app icon color, switch to discreet mode to avoid prying eyes, and choose a card that represents you best if you have a N26 You or Metal account, Dark Mode adds yet another layer of ultra-personalization to the way you choose to bank.
Want to test Dark mode for yourself, and try on a different mood? It’s very simple to enable it on Android or iOS—just make sure you have the latest N26 app update installed. If you have an Android smartphone, open your device’s settings. Then, go to “Display and Brightness,” and select “Light” or “Dark” to choose your screen’s appearance. Alternatively, enable the feature only for N26 by going into your app’s settings under “My Account,” tapping on “App Theme,” followed by “Dark theme.”Similarly, iOS users need to open their device settings, tap “Display and Brightness,” and then choose between “Light” or “Dark.” If you want to switch between these moods automatically with the daylight hours, make sure the button next to “Automatic” is toggled on green.
