If you bank with N26 in Italy right now, you’re in very good company! N26 has officially reached a milestone of more than 500k customers in the country.
Since reaching 300,000 Italian customers in January 2019, N26 Italy has grown a lot in less than a year. This is why this new milestone is particularly meaningful for us and confirms that, for Italian customers, the need to live and bank their way with a simple, transparent and 100% mobile banking experience is stronger than ever.
As Andrea Isola, General Manager Italy at N26, explained, "Just a few years ago, thinking that half a million Italians would choose N26 and start manage their finances on the go from their smartphone seemed impossible. Today, though, we are proud to announce this very important milestone that undoubtedly reflects the profound transformation carried out by N26 in the banking ecosystem, not only in Italy but around the world."
"Throughout the last few months, we have listened to the needs of our customers and implemented solutions that meet the new trends in savings and money management," continues Isola. Last May, for example, we launched CASH26, letting Italian customers deposit or withdraw cash while they shop in one of our partner stores and turning a daily banking operation into a simple, fast and flexible experience. We have also introduced a new way to share money with the beta version of Shared Spaces, the evolution of Spaces that allows premium account users to invite up to 10 friends and family members to a space sub-account to manage funds collectively, in real time. It’s much more than a traditional joint account, and very soon all N26 customers will be able to participate. Our mission, however, is also to offer our customers an increasingly personalized banking experience. This is why, last July, we’ve taken our N26 Black account and customized it even further to create N26 You, our premium account that puts you at the core of everything and caters to your individual lifestyle.
With the new funding round and our entry into the US market, our journey to become a truly global bank has officially started. Our focus on the local dimension, however, remains a key point for us. We want our products and services to fully satisfy the daily banking needs of our Italian customers: this is why we are working to be able to offer an Italian IBAN very soon.
