Get to know Maximilian
Maximilian Tayenthal cofounded N26 with his longtime friend Valentin Stalf in 2013. Together, they built one of Europe's leading digital banks today. Maximilian served as Co-CEO and Chief Operating Officer of N26 SE and Managing Director of N26 Bank SE until December 2025. Prior to that, he held the role of Chief Financial Officer.During his tenure, he has led N26 onto a strong and sustainable path, overseeing its break-even milestone in 2024 alongside robust revenue growth and continued innovation. Under his and Valentin's leadership, N26 expanded into telecommunications, became the only bank in Europe to offer fee-free stock and ETF trading in 2025.Maximilian is a passionate entrepreneur and continues to be active in Europe's innovation ecosystem as an avid investor and supporter of tech-driven startups. He continues to be a major shareholder of N26 today. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics and business administration from the University of Vienna. He also has a master’s degree in economics from the Community of European Management Schools, as well as a law degree from the University of Vienna. Maximilian is also a CFA charterholder.
