Popular crypto coins—now on N26
Bitcoin is perhaps the most popular cryptocurrency, with its origins dating back to a white paper published in 2008. It functions on its own blockchain, with transactions verified by an army of decentralized miners. Read our guide on 'What Is Bitcoin and How Does it Work.'Learn more
Ethereum is a decentralized, blockchain-powered platform designed to allow participants to interact and transact without the need for a central authority. This is accomplished, in part, by Ethereum’s innovative “smart contract” technology.
Binance Coin (BNB)
Binance Coin (BNB) is the native token of the Binance exchange ecosystem. As such, BNB fuels the Binance Exchange blockchain network — it can be bought, sold, or traded on the Binance exchange.
Solana is a decentralized blockchain-powered network. SOL, its native cryptocurrency, is one of the most popular cryptocurrencies in the world by market cap. Like Ethereum, Solana runs smart contracts which allows developers to create user-friendly decentralized apps (dApps).
*The N26 Metal crypto fee discounts only apply to trading amounts up to €5,000 (including fees on purchasing and excluding fees on selling crypto) per calendar month. Above this amount, standard fees apply: 1.5% on Bitcoin and 2.5% on all other coins (fees are always rounded up to the nearest full cent—to a maximum of one cent—which may lead to a slight increase of the fee percentage shown in an order preview). The fees and cryptocurrency prices shown on the N26 app for every transaction and including a possible spread are not determined by N26 but provided by Bitpanda GmbH. N26's liability is expressly excluded for any claim or damage arising from the formation of the prices of the assets offered by Bitpanda.
Ripple (XRP) is a blockchain-based payment platform with its own cryptocurrency bearing the same name. XRP acts as a bridge between two different currencies to offer cheaper, quicker, and more energy-efficient global transfers. It’s considered one of the most valuable currencies based on market cap.
Dogecoin (DOGE) is an open-source cryptocurrency that takes its name (and furry mascot) from the popular “doge” meme. Tweets from one of its most prominent supporters, Elon Musk, led Dogecoin’s price to skyrocket in early 2021.
Cardano is a blockchain platform based on peer-reviewed academic research. It promises a more scalable and sustainable alternative to its biggest crypto competitors.
AVAX is the native cryptocurrency of Avalanche, an open-source, blockchain-powered network. Thanks to its smart contract capability, Avalanche hosts a growing number of decentralized apps.

Sometimes referred to as the “silver to Bitcoin’s gold,” Litecoin is one of the oldest and most recognizable open-source cryptocurrencies.
Polkadot seeks to enable cross-blockchain transfers of any type of data or asset. DOT is its native token.

A word before getting started
Our goal is to make N26 Crypto as easy as possible and that means sharing the risks with you:
The market for crypto assets constitutes a high risk. Crypto assets are subject to high fluctuations in value—declines in value or a complete loss of the money spent are possible at any time. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance. The statements above do not constitute investment advice.

What is a cryptocurrency coin?
A cryptocurrency coin is one unit of any currency that exists virtually. Cryptocurrency coins are secured by cryptography. Though different coins may have different uses, many coins may be used to trade, store value, or buy certain goods and services.
What is an altcoin?
Altcoins are any crypto coins other than Bitcoin. They’re called altcoins because they are viewed as “alternatives” to Bitcoin, and many altcoins aim to improve or iterate on certain aspects of Bitcoin. With that said, there are thousands of altcoins in existence and their uses (and potential uses) may vary greatly. Some of the most popular altcoins are Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and Cardano (ADA)—all of which you can buy with N26 Crypto.
What’s the difference between a crypto coin and a crypto token?
Simply put, a crypto coin is a representation of a currency’s value, while a token carries an ownership deed. While crypto coins are directly linked to the blockchain of their respective cryptocurrency, crypto tokens piggyback off another cryptocurrency’s blockchain. Tokens can be used for multiple purposes, from representing assets to logging transactions involving that asset on the blockchain.
I don’t see a specific coin on N26. Will it ever be available?
N26’s selection of coins is based on that of our partner, Bitpanda. We will continually add new coins, so stay tuned for updates.
How does N26 select coins?
Our partner Bitpanda constantly monitors the market and picks among the coins with the highest market capitalization. They then analyze the legitimacy of each coin, and evaluate them to make sure they live up to legal and compliance standards.
What is Bitpanda?
Bitpanda GmbH is an Austrian-based financial technology company that offers a platform for trading cryptocurrencies. N26 has partnered with Bitpanda Gmbh to offer N26 Crypto, an easy way to trade almost 200 cryptocurrencies directly from your N26 app.
