    The free bank account from N26 is a free euro account for anyone living in Switzerland who’d like to have a bank account in euros. N26 is a German bank and you’ll get a German IBAN, a virtual Mastercard, and benefit from other smart money management features. Open your account directly on your smartphone in just a few minutes.

    Basically, none. You don’t pay a joining fee or other recurring bank charges. Since we’ve decided to steer clear of any paperwork or red tape, you don’t pay a surcharge for paper documents either.

    It’s simple—first make sure that you meet the requirements to open an account. You have to be over the age of 18, live in one of the eligible countries, and not have a different N26 account already. Of course, you should also have a compatible smartphone. Apart from that, you just need an ID and a few spare minutes. Download the N26 app to open your free bank account, or use the N26 WebApp. As soon as you’ve opened your account, you’ll receive your virtual Mastercard and you’ll be up and running!

    Yes, the currency of your free bank account from N26 is in euros. But we don’t charge any fees for payments in foreign currencies.

    You have three options to deposit money into your N26 euro account.
    • Transfer money from another euro account via a SEPA payment (free of charge).
    • Transfer money from another non-euro account via a SEPA payment (your Swiss bank might charge you for this and you’re bound by their exchange rates).
    • Transfer money via our partner TransferWise.
    We recommend making all transfers of different currencies to your N26 euro account via TransferWise. You’ll get the best exchange rate on their website and enjoy a transparent transaction.

    You have several options to withdraw money with your N26 Mastercard:
    1. You can withdraw euros in Switzerland or the Eurozone three times a month free of charge.
    2. For withdrawals in Switzerland in Swiss francs, you’ll pay a 1.7% foreign exchange fee.
