Security at N26

Do you have questions about whether banking with N26 is safe? No worries, we’ve got your back. Here are just a few of the ways we keep your information safe.

Account protection

Your funds are FDIC-insured through our partner bank, Axos Bank®, Member FDIC.

Secure log in

Keep your account secure by logging in using fingerprint or face recognition.

Phone pairing

When you create an N26 account, you’ll be asked to pair your smartphone. Your account can only be paired to one smartphone at a time. To pair your phone, open the app*. You’ll be asked to confirm your phone number. Enter the 4-digit code we send you via SMS and your phone is paired.

*N26 does not charge for this service, but your wireless carrier may charge for data or messages.

Card protection

The small EMV chip located on the left side of your card provides an additional layer of protection, producing a one-time use code for each purchase you make using your N26 card. Because chip cards use codes that are unique to each transaction, stolen chip data can’t be used to create counterfeit cards. N26 customers are also protected from fraudulent purchases with Visa's Zero Liability policy.*

Banking you control

The N26 app puts control back where it belongs. With a few taps, you can customize your account permissions and restrictions, including enabling or disabling online purchases, international payments, and whether or not your card can be used to withdraw cash.

If you’ve misplaced your card, or you want to restrict any of your card’s functions, you can block or unblock the card instantly within the app.

Instant account alerts

When you bank with N26, you’ll receive instant push notifications on all account activity so you can see what is happening with your money in real-time. You don’t need to wait a few days for a purchase to process or until the end of a billing period to see an accurate overview of your finances.

Discreet mode

Discreet mode lets you view your account and manage transactions as normal, while blurring out sensitive data like balance and transaction amounts, making it ideal for when someone might be looking over your shoulder

Support you can trust

Contact us anytime you have a question about your N26 account using the in-app Chat Support feature. Also feel free to reach out to us by email, on social media, or give us a call at 1-888-626-0626

Tips for safer mobile banking

Lock your devices

We recommend adding a lock code or password to any device you use to access your N26 account. Avoid using the same password for multiple accounts or devices.

Update your software

While it’s easy to delay software updates, it’s important that you do so regularly. Manufacturers frequently issue updates to protect against new safety defects.

Protect your passwords

Never write down or save any passwords, usernames, or PINs on your devices. If your phone is lost or becomes infected with malware, this will increase your risk of falling prey to cybercriminals.

Avoid public Wi-Fi

While public hotspots can be convenient, they’re typically not secure. Consider disconnecting from Wi-Fi and using your phone’s cell service to check your N26 account whenever possible.
