Now that summer is in full swing, we have some exciting news to share with all of you. Our big day (and yours) has arrived. N26 has officially launched in the US with our mobile banking app! It offers a N26 checking account via Axos Bank®* and a Visa® debit card.
What does this mean for you?
We understand your frustration with your banks. They cost a lot, deliver slow service, and tend to experience high call volumes just about every time you need to speak to them. That’s why we’ve brought a banking app that’s fast, transparent and designed to simplify your relationship with your money. Our unique ‘Spaces’ feature allows you to create sub-accounts instantly for specific savings and spending goals for whatever topic you’d like to manage separately. We really hope that N26 will change the way millions of Americans bank for the better. Our singular objective in the past one and a half years in building this product has been to make you want to open your bank account app every day. This is only the beginning. The full nationwide release of our app is expected to come in just a few short weeks. And over the next months, we plan to introduce more exciting benefits and features that will make your money work for you.
What does this mean for us?
Now that we’re here, we realize how incredible this moment truly is. Today, N26 is the first European challenger banking platform to launch in the US. That means we are one giant step closer to achieving our vision of helping millions of people around the world to bank smarter. When I first joined N26 in 2015, we had a few thousand customers. In autumn of 2017 when we first opened our New York office, that number had grown to more than 500,000. Last month we announced that N26 has 3.5 million users across 24 countries in Europe. We’re proud of this tremendous growth, and attribute it to our singular focus on reinventing the banking experience for today’s fast-paced and digitally driven lifestyles.
Of course, it’s not only our community of N26 users that’s been growing. We’ve gone from being a few friends sharing ideas on a couch in Berlin, to now employing more than 1,300 people across Berlin, Barcelona, New York and São Paulo. And we’re not stopping there. Later this year, we will open our second technology hub in Vienna. Our teams will continue to expand across product, technology, security and operations both in Europe and in the US, to ensure that we deliver the highest level of service and accountability that our customers deserve.
