About the opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Executive Assistant to Maximilian Tayenthal, N26 Founder & Co-CEO. This Senior Executive Assistant role exists to provide high-level strategic management support, clerical and business assistance, plus direction and guidance to support in the achievement of strategic priorities and business goals and objectives. This opportunity will allow you to see what the daily life of a Founder & Co-CEO looks like, how N26 is managed end-to-end, and how our Executive Leadership Team (ELT) works together.

Objectives
Taking your lead and overall direction from the executive, the Senior Executive Assistant is responsible for managing the office of the executive in a way that facilitates the executive being their most productive and effective. Working in partnership with the executive, and working proactively and unilaterally within a framework established together with the N26 CEO Office, the Senior Executive Assistant is also responsible for helping to manage executive energy, focus, mindset, priorities and relationships, and for helping to facilitate the best outcomes for the executive and their team of direct reports.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage our Founder and Co-CEO’s office and support all business activities at N26 focusing mainly on our Operations function.
  • Be responsible for helping to manage competing executive time, focus, and priorities in line with strategic objectives and short-term goals and objectives, assessing any shift in priorities as appropriate.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with all team members, direct reports, internal executives in other divisions or departments, and relevant internal or external stakeholders and clients
  • Assess and manage the flow of information, communications, and access to the Founder and Co-CEO in line with identified and ordered relative priorities. 
  • Use your judgement to prevent unnecessary involvement of the Founder and Co-CEO in day-to-day office management issues, team issues and daily interruptions. The Senior Executive Assistant will manage enquiries unilaterally where possible, or bring them to the attention of the Founder and Co-CEO at a time appropriate to relative priorities. 
  • Provide necessary business intelligence and data, including feedback on the temperature and mood within the team and organization.
  • Support initiatives of the Founder and Co-CEO, or elsewhere in the organization, as required and act as an advocate of the Founder and Co-CEO as required. The Senior Executive Assistant is responsible for managing key projects on behalf of the team, or being involved as a project team member, permanently or on an ad hoc basis as required. 
  • Build strong networks externally that help to support the Founder and Co-CEO in achieving business objectives.
  • Partner with other (Senior) Executive Assistants in the N26 CEO Office and key stakeholders on driving efficiency and improved processes for the Executive Leadership Team of N26.
  • Report into the N26 CEO Office and be an integral team member to all executive support staff at N26.
  • As well as having the following main duties and tasks: 
  • Manage the meetings, tasks schedules and diary of the Founder and Co-CEO, including arranging meetings in line with identified and understood priorities
  • Review all communications to the executive and handle, reassign or prioritize these for the executive in line with identified and understood priorities and areas of responsibility with the team and business. 
  • Review submissions to the executive and assess and edit for clarity, style, purpose or objective, and desired outcomes.
  • Conduct research for the Founder and Co-CEO and team initiatives or projects as directed or proactively, based on an understanding of known and understood project or task objectives. 
  • Draft communications, documents, or presentations as directed by the executive or proactively and present such communications for review or distribute unilaterally, depending on an understanding of the desires and needs of the Founder and Co-CEO. 
  • Manage and oversee projects as directed, including the development of plans for such projects. 
  • Participate in and contribute to team meetings and take notes or minutes as required, including facilitation of any follow-up action items.
  • Work together with the Executive Assistant to the Founder & Co-CEO to book and arrange travel and accommodation in line with known and understood needs, priorities, and objectives. 
  • Work together with the Executive Assistant to the Founder & Co-CEO to ensure all logistical and administrative duties are completed in a timely manner, including post management, IT support, and financial administration. 

What you need to be successful:

Background: 

  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience with supporting senior executives or leaders.
  • Project management experience would be beneficial.
  • Fluent/native in business-level English; intermediate in German would be a plus.

Skills: 

  • Excellent communicator, rapport and relationship builder, with very high emotional intelligence and the ability to maintain key relationships. 
  • Highly competent at managing workflow, priorities, diaries and schedules for multiple persons, including yourself and the executive. 
  • Level of integrity that is beyond reproach and be able to keep confidences and corporate confidentiality without question, as well as professionalism with senior leaders.
  • Must be good at assessing and analyzing vast quantities of data, information and communications and assessing the relevance of these and their level of priority at all times. 
  • Strong business acumen and business management knowledge and the ability to quickly learn and understand the nuances of different departments and divisions. 
  • Adept at quickly learning and understanding the roles and responsibilities of the Founder and Co-CEO and their team and others within the organization who support the N26 Executive Leadership Team. 
  • Possess advanced office software skills; strong written communication skills, including the drafting and editing of high-level documents; advanced presentation preparation and design skills; a strong financial numeracy and corporate finance understanding is a plus
  • Must be someone others believe is genuinely working in the best interests of the Founder and Co-CEO, his team, and the organization 
  • Rational and strategic thinker with problem-solving capabilities and the ability to complete complex tasks and projects quickly with little to no guidance
  • Adept at dealing with a variety of complex stakeholders and difficult situations and at managing and overcoming conflict. 
  • You react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround and take effective action to continually improve the status quo.
